A seasoned political organizer who stewarded Bangladesh's crucial food security system through global crises as Minister of Food.
Sadhan Chandra Majumder’s career is rooted in the political landscape of Naogaon, a district in northwestern Bangladesh. A loyal member of the Awami League, he rose through the ranks as a local organizer before winning a parliamentary seat in 2009. For over a decade, he represented Naogaon-1, building a reputation as a diligent constituency MP. His most significant test came in 2019 when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina appointed him Minister of Food, placing him in charge of a vast system responsible for feeding over 160 million people. His tenure coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic and the global food price shocks triggered by the Ukraine war, requiring careful management of the country's grain reserves and subsidy programs to ensure stability. Seen as a steady administrator, Majumder focused on streamlining distribution and cracking down on corruption within the food sector, a critical but often unglamorous portfolio in Bangladeshi politics.

The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.
Sadhan was born in 1950, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
