Biography

Orlando Jones exploded onto the comedy scene as an original cast member of MADtv, where his elastic face and sharp timing created instantly memorable characters. He then leveraged that visibility into the unforgettable '7 Up Guy,' a frenetic pitchman that made him a ubiquitous pop culture figure in the late 90s. Jones never settled into a single lane, however, moving seamlessly between film, television, and stand-up. His career found a potent second act in dramatic and genre roles, most notably as Mr. Nancy, the trickster god Anansi, on 'American Gods.' In that role, he channeled centuries of folklore and biting social critique into a performance that was both mischievous and profoundly weighty, proving his depth far beyond the sketch stage.

Generation X

1965–1980

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.

Orlando was born in 1968, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
