A Canadian actor who stole scenes as a lovably dim Florida man before pivoting to reveal a captivating, mysterious intensity.
Manny Jacinto's career is a study in delightful subversion. The Philippine-born, Vancouver-raised actor initially seemed destined for engineering, but a switch to acting led him to his defining early role: Jason Mendoza on *The Good Place*. As the blissfully unaware DJ and amateur dancer from Jacksonville, Jacinto delivered pitch-perfect comic timing, making "Bortles!" and Molotov cocktails part of the cultural lexicon. He deliberately avoided being typecast, taking on a chillingly quiet role in *Bad Times at the El Royale* and later appearing in the blockbuster *Top Gun: Maverick*. His pivot reached its apex with his portrayal of the enigmatic, masked Stranger in *Star Wars: The Acolyte*, where he used physicality and a haunting presence to captivate audiences, proving his range extends far beyond Jacksonville's favorite son.
1981–1996
The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Manny was born in 1987, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
