A Polish daredevil who conquered European rally stages before trading the co-driver's notes for a seat in the European Parliament.
Krzysztof Hołowczyc won the 1997 European Rally Championship, making him a national sports hero in Poland. Behind the wheel, he was a dominant force in Polish and European rallying in the 1990s, driving with an aggressive, flamboyant style on gravel and tarmac. He later channeled his competitive drive into politics, serving as a Member of the European Parliament from 2007 to 2009. Even after that, he remained in motorsport, taking on the Dakar Rally and becoming a television commentator. His life narrative is one of navigating sharp turns, both literal and metaphorical, with unwavering confidence.
1946–1964
The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.
Krzysztof was born in 1962, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
