A versatile special teams ace whose knack for big returns contributed to two dramatic Super Bowl victories for the New York Giants.
Domenik Hixon’s NFL career was a testament to resilience and specialized skill. Drafted in the fourth round by Denver, the Akron product made his mark not as a primary receiver but as a fearless return specialist and core special teams player. His breakout moment came after joining the New York Giants in 2007. In Week 1 of the 2007 season, he returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown, instantly ingratiating himself with fans. That season, his contributions on coverage units and in the return game helped the Giants stage their stunning Super Bowl XLII upset of the Patriots. He repeated the feat four years later, earning a second ring with the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Hixon’s career was hampered by serious knee injuries, but his ability to flip field position and make clutch plays in the kicking game made him a valued role player for every team he joined, including Carolina and Chicago, before retiring in 2014.

Domenik was born in 1984, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
