A Canadian outsider who mastered Myanmar's ancient bareknuckle art of Lethwei, becoming its first foreign champion and global ambassador.
Dave Leduc didn't just enter the world of Lethwei; he conquered it from the outside in. The Ottawa-born fighter traveled to Myanmar in 2016, immersing himself in a sport known as 'the art of nine limbs' for its allowance of headbutts. In a stunning victory, he defeated the reigning champion, Tun Tun Min, to claim the Golden Belt, a feat no non-Burmese had ever achieved. Leduc didn't stop there; he defended his title repeatedly and became the sport's most recognizable face, using his platform to bring Lethwei to international pay-per-view and sanctioning. His journey began in controversial 'Prison Fights' in Thailand, but he transformed into a respectful student and then a dominant force of the tradition, forcing the world to pay attention to one of combat sports' most brutal and culturally rich disciplines.

Dave was born in 1991, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
