A Korean-American producer and singer who helped shape the sound of modern K-pop from behind the scenes before stepping into the spotlight.
Born in Seoul and raised in the United States, Chancellor, born Kim Jung-seung, returned to South Korea with a musical sensibility forged in two worlds. His initial foray with the group One Way didn't catch fire, but his pivot to songwriting proved transformative. Teaming up with Park Jang-geun as Duble Sidekick, he became an architect of early 2010s K-pop, crafting infectious, genre-blending hits for major acts like SISTAR, Apink, and Boyfriend. These songs often carried a distinct, soulful undercurrent that set them apart. In 2014, he made the risky move to leave his successful production team and launch a solo career. His own music, beginning with the 2016 album 'My Full Name', is a moodier, R&B-driven exploration, showcasing his velvety vocals and introspective lyrics. Chancellor carved a unique path: first, as a hidden hand defining a generation's pop charts, and then as an artist claiming his own atmospheric sonic space.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Chancellor was born in 1986, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
