An Italian volleyball champion who transitioned from a world-title-winning player to a globe-trotting, trophy-lifting master coach.
Andrea Anastasi played for Italy's national team during its 1980s ascent. In 1990, he helped Italy win the World Championship, securing the country's status as an international force. He then moved into coaching. He led national teams in Spain, Poland, and Germany, and directed club squads across Europe. His teams won league and cup titles on the continent. His sideline intensity and ability to push athletes to their limits defined his second career.

Andrea was born in 1960, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
