A Macau racing pioneer who conquered the treacherous Guia Circuit and became a champion in Japan's Super GT series.
André Couto put Macau on the global motorsport map, emerging from the Portuguese enclave to become its most successful racing export. His career was forged on the very streets of his hometown, the Macau Grand Prix, a famously demanding circuit where he first showcased his fearless talent. The pinnacle came in 2000 when he won the prestigious Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix, a victory that announced him as a world-class prospect and a local hero. While a full-time Formula 1 seat remained elusive, Couto built a formidable and enduring career in Japan, mastering the technical and competitive Super GT championship. His dedication was crowned in 2015 when he won the Super GT GT300 class title, proving his speed and strategic acumen over a long season. More than just a driver, Couto has served as an ambassador for Macau's racing culture, his career a testament to the fact that world champions can come from the smallest of starting grids.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
André was born in 1976, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
