A towering Australian goalkeeper whose lengthy career spanned European clubs and World Cup duty, now shaping talent as a coach.
Zeljko Kalac, nicknamed 'Spider' for his incredible 2.02-meter reach, cut an imposing figure in the goalmouth. His professional journey took him from Australian football to a long stint in Europe, most notably with Italian Serie A side AC Milan, where he served as a backup during a successful period for the club. While his international opportunities were sometimes limited by the presence of fellow great Mark Schwarzer, Kalac earned caps for the Socceroos and was part of the squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. After hanging up his gloves, he transitioned into coaching, imparting his extensive experience to goalkeepers at clubs and, later, for the Iraqi national team.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Zeljko was born in 1972, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
