An Indian political scion who weathered legal battles and a dramatic walk to build a mass movement and become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy walked thousands of kilometers across Andhra Pradesh during a 'padayatra' after his father's sudden death in 2009, connecting directly with voters. He was a businessman and MP when Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy died. Denied leadership of the Congress party, he founded the YSR Congress Party. He faced corruption investigations and spent time in jail, which he framed as political persecution. His grassroots campaign led to a landslide victory in 2019. As Chief Minister, he launched ambitious welfare schemes, channeling his father's legacy while carving his own administrative identity.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Y. was born in 1972, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
