Biography

Steve Collins brought a ferocious, unshakeable self-belief from Dublin to the professional boxing rings of America and Europe. After a solid but unspectacular start stateside, he returned to Europe a hardened fighter, now managed by the savvy Barney Eastwood. His moment arrived in 1995 when, cast as the underdog, he traveled to Millstreet, Ireland, to face the undefeated and flamboyant Chris Eubank. Using relentless pressure and a psychological war of words, Collins won the WBO super-middleweight title, a victory he repeated in a rematch. He then defeated the dangerous Nigel Benn—twice—cementing his dominance. Collins was a swarming, durable pressure fighter who broke opponents' wills. He retired as an undefeated champion, having never lost a title fight, and in doing so, he captured the imagination of Ireland, delivering some of the most electrifying nights in the nation's sporting history and proving that willpower could overcome pure artistry.

Baby Boomers

1946–1964

The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.

Steve was born in 1964, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
