An American artist who gives voice to a dizzying array of characters in solo shows that dissect race, gender, and identity with sharp wit.
Sarah Jones is a theatrical shape-shifter, a writer and performer who builds bridges of understanding through the sheer force of her transformative talent. She first turned heads in downtown New York with solo pieces where she embodied everyone from a fast-talking Dominican immigrant to a Jewish grandmother, all with uncanny authenticity. Her breakthrough show, 'Bridge & Tunnel,' moved to Broadway in 2006 with support from Meryl Streep, earning Jones a special Tony Award. Never one to shy from complex subjects, she later tackled the politics of the sex industry in 'Sell/Buy/Date,' which evolved into a hybrid documentary film. Jones operates as a one-woman ensemble, using humor and empathy to turn the stage into a vibrant, crowded forum for voices often left out of the mainstream conversation.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Sarah was born in 1974, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
