A hulking prop from New Zealand who anchored the Penrith Panthers' forward pack for nearly a decade with relentless power and durability.
Sam McKendry's rugby league journey is one of quiet, consistent force. Born in Auckland, New Zealand, his path to the NRL was forged through the Penrith Panthers' junior system, where his formidable size and work ethic quickly marked him as a prospect. He debuted for the Panthers in 2008, and for the next ten seasons, his presence in the front row became a fixture. McKendry was not a flashy player; his value lay in the hard, unglamorous yards gained after contact and the tackles made in the middle of the park. His efforts earned him recognition on the international stage, representing both the New Zealand Māori and the full New Zealand national team, the Kiwis. A serious knee injury in 2016 ultimately curtailed his career, leading to his retirement in 2018, but he left a legacy as a player whose reliability was his greatest asset.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Sam was born in 1989, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
