Biography

Ricky Davis scored 20.6 points per game for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2002-03 season. The Iowa product entered the NBA when the Charlotte Hornets drafted him in 1998. He changed teams five times in his first four seasons, searching for a system that fit his aggressive offensive game. In Cleveland he produced acrobatic dunks and deep three-pointers, becoming a nightly highlight generator. His time with the Cavaliers is remembered most for a 2003 game where he intentionally shot at his own basket to grab a tenth rebound for a triple-double. That moment captured his unpredictable, boundary-pushing approach. Later, as a sixth man for the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat, he demonstrated a more disciplined, team-oriented style. Davis played 12 NBA seasons, finishing with career averages of 13.5 points and 3.0 rebounds. His career was built on pure, unapologetic scoring confidence during an era of increasing offensive structure.

Generation X

1965–1980

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.

Ricky was born in 1979, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
