A Conservative MP with a background in finance, he has navigated backbench roles and party leadership during a turbulent political era.
Richard Fuller's political career is a study in persistence and party loyalty within the modern Conservative landscape. Entering Parliament in 2010 as the MP for Bedford, he brought with him the sharp focus of a career spent in corporate finance and venture capital. His first stint in Westminster saw him championing business interests and serving as a parliamentary private secretary, but he lost his seat in the 2017 election. Undeterred, he returned in 2019 for the newly configured North East Bedfordshire constituency. Fuller's profile rose significantly during the political upheavals of the early 2020s. Appointed as interim Chairman of the Conservative Party in 2024, he was tasked with steadying the organization during a challenging period. This led to a promotion to the frontbench as Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, placing him in a key role scrutinizing government spending and economic policy for the opposition.

Richard was born in 1962, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
