A durable Czech netminder who became the face of Winnipeg's reborn Jets franchise through nearly 400 NHL games.
Ondřej Pavelec's journey to the NHL crease began in Kladno, Czech Republic, his draft stock rising after a strong showing at the 2005 World Juniors. Selected by the Atlanta Thrashers, he honed his craft in the AHL before seizing the starting job with a mix of athleticism and a knack for the spectacular save. His career became intertwined with franchise relocation; when the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg in 2011, Pavelec was the goalie in the mask for the Jets' emotional return, endearing himself to a passionate new fanbase. While his statistics were sometimes uneven, his resilience was never in question, battling through injuries and criticism. His final NHL season with the New York Rangers was a coda to a solid, workmanlike career defined by loyalty to the organization that drafted him.

Ondřej was born in 1987, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
