A powerhouse sumo wrestler who battled from amateur glory to the sport's second-highest rank with relentless pushing technique.
Mitakeumi Hisashi won multiple tournament championships from the challenging sekiwake rank before earning promotion to ōzeki in 2022. Born in 1992, he was a champion at Toyo University before entering professional sumo. He rocketed to the top makuuchi division in just eight tournaments. Not a giant by sumo standards, he compensates with explosive power, a low center of gravity, and a bulldozing style. His career is a story of consistent excellence punctuated by brilliant peaks.

Mitakeumi was born in 1992, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
