A pioneering sex educator and artist who centered trans women's pleasure and autonomy in a groundbreaking, self-published zine.
Mira Bellwether was a quiet revolutionary in queer and trans communities. Operating from the DIY ethos of zine culture, she created 'Fucking Trans Women' in 2010, a work that filled a glaring void. Before mainstream conversations about trans inclusion, Bellwether produced a detailed, illustrated manual that was both practical and radical. It focused unapologetically on the sexual experiences and desires of trans women, written from their perspective. The zine combined technical advice with affirming, body-positive art, challenging the medicalized and often desexualized narratives surrounding trans bodies. Bellwether's work became an underground classic, photocopied and shared globally, providing crucial information and validation. Beyond the zine, she was a vocal advocate against trans-exclusionary radical feminism, arguing for spaces that embraced all women. Her sudden death in 2022 left a profound gap, but her foundational text continues to be a touchstone, having evolved from a stapled pamphlet into a widely recognized resource that changed how a generation thought about intimacy and identity.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Mira was born in 1982, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
