A hard-nosed Ford driver who broke a championship drought and conquered Mount Panorama to cement his Supercars legacy.
Mark 'Frosty' Winterbottom spent the heart of his career as the blue-oval standard-bearer in Australia's ferocious Supercars series. Joining Ford powerhouse Stone Brothers Racing as a young gun, he quickly matured into a consistent title threat. His driving was characterized by relentless precision and racecraft, traits that finally delivered the ultimate prize in 2015 when he won the V8 Supercars championship, ending a five-year title dry spell for Ford. That championship crown was complemented by the sport's most cherished victory: a win at the Bathurst 1000 in 2013, a chaotic, rain-soaked marathon he conquered with co-driver Steven Richards. Winterbottom's career, primarily with Ford Performance Racing, made him a fan favorite for his loyalty and workmanlike approach. In his later years, he transitioned to a mentoring and endurance racing role, his experience remaining a valued asset on the grid.
