A Conservative MP whose tenure representing Fylde ended abruptly amid controversy after over a decade in Parliament.
Mark Menzies entered the House of Commons in 2010 as the Conservative member for Fylde, a coastal constituency in Lancashire. His early parliamentary career saw him serve as a parliamentary private secretary in the Department of Energy and Climate Change, a role that placed him close to ministerial operations. For years, he was a backbench presence, focusing on local issues pertinent to his district. However, his political career unraveled in 2024 following allegations concerning the misuse of campaign funds, leading to his suspension from the Conservative Party and his decision not to stand in the subsequent general election, bringing a sudden close to his 14-year stint in Westminster.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Mark was born in 1971, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
