A journeyman goalkeeper who carved out a solid professional career across England's leagues before moving into coaching.
Mark Bunn built a 17-year professional career as a goalkeeper without ever being a regular Premier League starter. He came through the youth system at Northampton Town, his hometown club, then moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2008. First-team chances at Spurs were limited, but a loan to Leicester City led to a permanent transfer to Aston Villa in 2009. At Villa he served as a reliable deputy and occasional starter, making 19 Premier League appearances over three seasons. Subsequent moves took him to Norwich City, Sheffield United, and Preston North End, where he played in the Championship and League One. His shot-stopping and professionalism kept him employed long after many peers had retired. After retiring in 2019, Bunn moved into coaching, becoming a goalkeeping coach at Cambridge United. His career did not feature trophies or headlines, but it demonstrated that steady performance and a deep understanding of the game's demands can sustain a footballer for years beyond the top flight.
