A founding father of West Coast hardcore, his raw, confrontational voice defined punk's DIY spirit and restless energy.
Keith Morris emerged from the sun-bleached boredom of Hermosa Beach, California, not as a musician in the traditional sense, but as a human spark plug. In 1976, he co-founded Black Flag, channeling suburban frustration into a gale-force vocal style that was less singing and more a declaration of war on complacency. His tenure was brief but foundational; the band's debut EP, 'Nervous Breakdown,' captured his jittery, hyper-literate rage and set the template for hardcore. Never one to sit still, Morris quickly formed the Circle Jerks, sharpening Black Flag's aggression into shorter, faster, and often darkly humorous social critiques. His career became a testament to punk's enduring, chaotic heart, leading him decades later to form the blistering supergroup OFF!, proving that his corrosive wit and relentless energy were undimmed by time.

Keith was born in 1955, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
