As the driving force behind Cast, his jangling guitar anthems became a defining sound of 90s Britpop.
John Power's musical journey began not on stage, but in the audience. A Liverpudlian steeped in the city's melodic history, he first found his footing as the bassist for the enigmatic band The La's, contributing to their cult classic album. But his own voice was waiting to emerge. In 1992, he formed Cast, channeling the spirit of 60s rock and mod energy into a fresh, guitar-driven sound. With Power's distinct vocals and knack for soaring, sing-along choruses, the band's debut album 'All Change' became one of the fastest-selling first records in UK history, a rocket-fueled entry into the Britpop firmament. After Cast's initial run, Power embarked on a quieter, more introspective solo career, exploring folk and acoustic roots, proving his craft extended far beyond the roar of a festival crowd.
