An American storyteller who uses immersive travel writing and solo performance to explore the profound connections and comic absurdities of global culture.
Jeff Greenwald turned a severe case of wanderlust into a unique career at the intersection of journalism, photography, and theater. Dissatisfied with brief dispatches, he pioneered a style of deep, long-form travel writing that immersed readers in places like Nepal, Burma, and Bolivia, focusing on the human stories within geopolitical landscapes. His breakthrough book, 'Shopping for Buddhas,' blended sharp observation with personal quest, capturing the soul of a nation through its artifacts and people. Not content with the page alone, Greenwald took his narratives to the stage, developing a series of acclaimed solo performances where he acted out his global adventures with kinetic energy and wit. Based in Oakland, he continued to evolve as a digital storyteller and advocate for ethical travel, always arguing that the greatest journey is the one that changes the traveler's perspective.

The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.
Jeff was born in 1954, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
