A seasoned political operator who rose from a young local MP to become Victoria's premier, steering the state through major infrastructure and social reforms.
Jacinta Allan entered the Victorian Parliament in 1999 as its youngest-ever female member, representing the regional city of Bendigo. Her political apprenticeship was long and hands-on, building a reputation as a hard-nosed and effective minister rather than a spotlight-seeking orator. Under premiers Steve Bracks and John Brumby, she cut her teeth on complex portfolios like Transport and Major Projects, where she oversaw the beginnings of Victoria's massive infrastructure overhaul. After a period in opposition, she returned to government with Daniel Andrews, becoming a key lieutenant and his deputy premier in 2022. When Andrews resigned suddenly in 2023, Allan's deep experience within the Labor cabinet made her the natural successor. As premier, she has taken the helm of a government focused on completing generational projects like the Suburban Rail Loop, while navigating the political challenges of post-pandemic debt and housing affordability, aiming to put her own stamp on Victoria's future.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Jacinta was born in 1973, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
