Biography

Guy Smith is the quiet man of endurance racing who delivered one of the sport's great upsets. For years, the Yorkshire driver honed his craft in sports prototypes and touring cars, known for his smooth, consistent pace over long distances. His moment came in 2003, piloting the Bentley Speed 8 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In a David vs. Goliath battle against the all-conquering Audi squad, Smith and his teammates drove a flawless race, securing Bentley's first victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe since 1930. This triumph defined his career, but he remained a force for over a decade, adding an American Le Mans Series title and multiple podium finishes at Le Mans, always the reliable co-driver teams wanted in the cockpit for the long haul.

Generation X

1965–1980

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.

Guy was born in 1974, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
