A British endurance racing specialist who conquered Le Mans in an underdog Bentley, defying the dominant Audis.
Guy Smith drove the Bentley Speed 8 to victory at the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans, ending the manufacturer's 73-year drought at the Circuit de la Sarthe. The Yorkshireman's smooth, consistent pace over long distances made him the quiet anchor of endurance racing. In a David vs. Goliath battle against the dominant Audi squad, Smith and his teammates executed a flawless race, securing Bentley's first win since 1930. That triumph defined his career, but he remained a force for over a decade. He added an American Le Mans Series title and multiple podium finishes at Le Mans. Teams always wanted him in the cockpit for the long haul.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Guy was born in 1974, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
