The powerhouse drummer and co-vocalist who helped drive Triumph to arena-rock heights with a blend of muscle and melody.
Behind the kit and sharing the mic, Gil Moore provided the relentless engine for Triumph, one of Canada's great hard rock power trios. Alongside guitarist Rik Emmett and bassist Mike Levine, Moore helped forge a sound that was both technically formidable and radio-friendly, filling stadiums across North America in the late 70s and 80s. His drumming was a thunderous, precise force, providing the backbone for anthems like "Fight the Good Fight" and "Lay It on the Line." As a co-vocalist, his rougher-hewn voice offered a gritty counterpoint to Emmett's cleaner tenor, adding depth to their harmonies. Beyond performing, Moore's business acumen was crucial; he co-founded the band's own label, Attic Records-distributed TRC, and later established Metalworks Studios, a premier recording facility in Mississauga. This dual role as musician and savvy operator allowed Triumph to maintain remarkable creative control, ensuring their legacy as a self-made powerhouse of Canadian rock.

Gil was born in 1953, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
