A powerful Venezuelan slugger whose explosive bat produced one of the most prolific home run seasons ever by a player from his country.
Eugenio Suárez's story in Major League Baseball is one of adaptation and raw power. Signed by the Detroit Tigers out of Venezuela, he initially bounced between shortstop and third base, searching for a defensive home. A trade to the Cincinnati Reds unlocked his potential, where he settled at third and evolved into a middle-of-the-order force. His swing, compact and violent, was built for the Great American Ball Park. The apex came in 2019 when he launched 49 home runs, tying the single-season record for a Venezuelan-born player and announcing himself as one of the game's premier power threats. A two-time All-Star, Suárez's journey later took him to Seattle and Arizona, where his veteran presence and consistent pop remained valuable. He carved out a reputation as a durable, good-humored clubhouse leader who could change a game with one swing.

Eugenio was born in 1991, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
