A Uyghur actress from Xinjiang whose meteoric rise to fame made her one of China's most recognizable and influential television stars.
Dilraba Dilmurat's breakout role as the fox spirit Bai Fengjiu in the 2017 series 'Eternal Love' won millions of fans. Born in Urumqi to a Uyghur family, she studied at the Shanghai Theatre Academy after an early immersion in song and dance. Her distinct features and natural screen presence caught the industry's eye in the 2014 drama 'The Diamond Lover.' She earned the nickname 'Queen of Dramas' for leading hit series like 'The Flame's Daughter' and 'The Long Ballad.' Her ethnicity has been both a point of fascination and occasional controversy in China, as she navigates a complex cultural landscape as a Uyghur woman in mainstream Mandarin media.
