A character actor whose intense, off-kilter presence has made him a secret weapon in some of the biggest sci-fi and superhero films of his era.
David Dastmalchian's path to Hollywood was unconventional, marked by personal struggles that later informed the depth he brings to often troubled or eccentric characters. After battling addiction and homelessness early in his career, his breakthrough came with a small but memorable role as a paranoid schizophrenic in 'The Dark Knight', a part he landed shortly after getting sober. This set the stage for a career defined by collaboration with visionary directors, most notably Denis Villeneuve, who cast him in three consecutive films: 'Prisoners', 'Blade Runner 2049', and 'Dune'. Dastmalchian possesses a unique ability to humanize the bizarre, whether playing a nervous henchman, a replicant technician, or a sinister Mentat. Beyond acting, he has written graphic novels drawing from his own experiences, cementing his status as a multifaceted storyteller who found his distinctive place by embracing his singular look and perspective.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
David was born in 1975, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
