A feared NHL enforcer who won two Stanley Cups, then transformed into a powerful advocate for players battling brain injuries and mental health crises.
Daniel Carcillo's hockey narrative splits cleanly into two acts. The first was written with his fists. Known universally as 'Car Bomb,' he carved out a decade-long NHL career as a relentless, punishing enforcer, a role that earned him over 1,200 penalty minutes and two Stanley Cup rings with the Chicago Blackhawks. The physical toll, however, was immense. The second act began in retirement, forged from personal tragedy after the suicide of his close friend and former teammate Steve Montador, which was linked to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Carcillo channeled his intensity into advocacy, founding a nonprofit to support former players struggling with post-concussion syndrome and mental health. He became a vocal, sometimes controversial, critic of hockey's fighting culture, testifying before Canadian Parliament about player safety. His work evolved into Wesana Health, a company exploring psychedelic-assisted therapies for traumatic brain injury, marking an unexpected pivot from the penalty box to the forefront of neuropsychiatric care.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Daniel was born in 1985, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
