A hard-hitting Australian centre who clinched an NRL premiership in the fierce Melbourne Storm system and earned State of Origin honours.
Dane Nielsen's rugby league journey is a classic tale of a journeyman who found his moment in the sun. A reliable and robust centre, he moved through several NRL clubs before landing at the Melbourne Storm, a club synonymous with ruthless efficiency. There, in 2012, he became an integral part of their defensive structure and attacking shape, contributing to a premiership victory that stands as the crowning achievement of his career. That form was rewarded with selection for Queensland in the State of Origin arena, the ultimate test of a player's mettle in Australian rugby league. Nielsen's path later took him to England's Super League before retirement, his career defined by that premiership ring and the Maroon jersey he wore with pride.
