A Belgian metal journeyman who swapped bass for guitar to keep the industrial machine of Fear Factory grinding forward.
Christian Olde Wolbers emerged from the Belgian metal scene in the late 80s, cutting his teeth in bands like the thrash outfit Beowülf. His big break came when he joined the influential industrial metal act Fear Factory, initially as a bassist. When guitarist Dino Cazares left the band in 2002, Wolbers made a pivotal switch, taking over the guitar duties and helping to steer the band's sound through a turbulent period, including on the album 'Archetype'. Beyond performing, he stepped into production, working on records for bands like Threat Signal. In later years, he co-founded the rap-metal collective Powerflo, linking up with members of Cypress Hill and Biohazard, proving his adaptability across metal's many subgenres has been a constant throughout his career.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Christian was born in 1972, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.

“The bass is the foundation; it has to be heavy and lock in with the kick drum.”
