A freestyle skiing innovator from Vancouver Island who soared to Olympic gold with a blend of powerful amplitude and stylish grace.
Cassie Sharpe's path to the halfpipe was unconventional, rooted in the mogul fields and terrain parks of Mount Washington on Vancouver Island. A gifted athlete who also competed in cheerleading and horseback riding, she brought a unique blend of power and poise to freestyle skiing. After a serious knee injury in 2014 threatened her career, she rebuilt her technique from the ground up, emerging with a more controlled and massive air style. At the 2018 PyeongChang Games, she didn't just win gold; she dominated, landing back-to-back 900s in her first run to secure the victory before using her second to perform a celebratory victory lap. Sharpe continued to push the sport's progression, battling through another major knee surgery to claim a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, proving her resilience was as formidable as her talent.

Cassie was born in 1992, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
