Biography
Carl Weathers played Apollo Creed, the flamboyant heavyweight champion opposite Sylvester Stallone in the first four 'Rocky' films (1976–1985). Born in New Orleans in 1948, he played linebacker for the Oakland Raiders and BC Lions before turning to acting. His breakthrough came as Creed, a role that showcased both menace and charm. Weathers later appeared in 'Predator' (1987) as Dillon, Arnold Schwarzenegger's rival, and voiced Combat Carl in the 'Toy Story' franchise. He directed episodes of 'The Mandalorian' and 'The Last Man on Earth'. Weathers died in 2024 at age 76. His career spanned five decades, moving from the gridiron to the screen with a physical presence that few former athletes matched.
