A French swimming powerhouse who surged to triple Olympic glory in London, mastering both grueling medleys and blistering freestyle sprints.
Camille Muffat announced herself to the world not with a whisper, but with a roar at the 2012 London Olympics. After years of international competition, she delivered a stunning performance, capturing gold in the 400m freestyle, silver in the 200m freestyle, and bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay. Her swimming was characterized by powerful, efficient strokes and a fierce competitive calm. The success in London was the peak of a career that saw her hold world records and European titles, particularly in the demanding 400m individual medley earlier in her career. Her retirement in 2014 closed the chapter on a brilliant but tragically short life; she died in a helicopter accident in Argentina in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of explosive Olympic achievement.

Camille was born in 1989, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
