A master of Mexican technical wrestling whose blue mask and scientific style made him an enduring pillar of lucha libre for generations.
Genaro Vázquez Nevarez debuted in the late 1970s as Blue Panther, a ground-based strategist who wrestled a complex chess match of holds and counters. He emerged as a 'técnico' archetype through technical mastery. His career moved from the UWA to AAA and finally to a long-term home in CMLL. There, he led factions like Los Guerreros del Infierno and trained countless newcomers. Panther won multiple championships and his matches are studied as clinics. His sons followed him into wrestling, ensuring the Panther name endures.
1946–1964
The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.
Blue was born in 1960, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
