A versatile and tough forward who carved out a professional rugby league career across Australia before pioneering in the North American game.
Blake Leary's career is a study in adaptability, a journey defined by positional flexibility and a willingness to go where the game needed him. The Queenslander made his NRL debut for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in 2011, quickly establishing himself as a hard-nosed utility forward who could slot into the back row, at lock, or even at hooker. Stints at the North Queensland Cowboys and the New Zealand Warriors followed, where his work rate and defensive grit made him a valuable squad player. In 2022, he embraced a new challenge, joining the New York Freedom to help grow rugby league in the United States, bringing a veteran's professionalism to an expanding frontier for the sport.
