A Welsh track cyclist who roared back from career-threatening injuries to claim double world champion and Olympic silver medals.
Becky James's cycling story is one of resilience forged in the valleys of Wales. Bursting onto the elite scene as a teenager, her trajectory was brutally interrupted by a series of injuries and illness, including a serious knee surgery and cervical cancer scare that left her future in doubt. Her comeback, therefore, was not just a return but a reinvention. In 2013, she silenced any remaining doubters by achieving the remarkable feat of becoming world champion in both the sprint and keirin events, a rare double. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, the peak of her career, she channeled her explosive power into two silver medals in the keirin and sprint, cementing her status as one of Britain's most determined track athletes. Her career, which concluded in 2017, stands as a testament to mental fortitude as much as physical talent.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Becky was born in 1991, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
