He brought a green-skinned, karaoke-loving demon to life with a soulful voice and unexpected heart, becoming a cult favorite.
Andy Hallett's path to television was as unexpected as his character. A Rhode Island native, he was working as a courier and singing in Los Angeles clubs when a chance meeting with a casting director for 'Angel' led to an audition. He landed the role of Lorne, the empathic demon host of Caritas, a sanctuary bar. Hallett, who had no formal acting training, infused the prosthetic-heavy part with a weary warmth and a showman's flair, often breaking into song. His performances, ranging from lounge standards to rock anthems, became a highlight of the series, transforming a seemingly minor character into its moral compass. After 'Angel', he continued to perform musically but struggled to find another role that captured the same magic. His death from heart failure at 33 cut short a career that demonstrated how charisma and a great voice could create an enduring television legacy.

Andy was born in 1975, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
