The powerhouse vocalist who stepped into massive shoes to lead Helloween into a new, globally successful era of melodic power metal.
Andi Deris joined Helloween in 1994 and pulled the band back from collapse. The German power metal group had lost singer Michael Kiske in 1993, leaving its future uncertain. Deris, who had fronted Pink Cream 69, brought a grittier, more versatile vocal style. His first album with Helloween, 'Master of the Rings' (1994), proved the band could evolve without its original voice. Deris delivered razor-sharp aggression and melodic warmth, co-writing hits like 'Forever and One' and 'Power.' Over three decades, his energetic stage presence and distinct vocals anchored Helloween's most stable and prolific period. He guided the band through reunions and a landmark album featuring both former singers, securing his place as a defining voice in power metal.

Andi was born in 1964, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
