A steady hand in Ukrainian industry and politics, navigating the turbulent post-Soviet decades as a advocate for economic modernization.
Anatoliy Kinakh’s career is woven into the fabric of independent Ukraine's industrial policy. An engineer by training, he rose through managerial ranks in the Soviet era, giving him a deep understanding of the country's economic backbone. When the USSR collapsed, he transitioned into politics, positioning himself as a pragmatic voice for the industrial class. His tenure as Prime Minister from 2001 to 2002 was a brief but challenging period marked by the task of stabilizing a transitioning economy. More enduring has been his role as a behind-the-scenes operator and the long-time leader of the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, a lobbying force for business interests. Kinakh has served in various parliamentary and security council roles, often seen as a bridge between the government and the powerful industrial oligarchs of eastern Ukraine.

The largest generation in history at the time. Shaped by postwar prosperity, the Vietnam War, the sexual revolution, and Watergate. They questioned every institution their parents built — then ran them.
Anatoliy was born in 1954, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
