A nearly 600-pound Samoan-American giant who dominated the WWF in the early 90s, becoming one of the most formidable champions in wrestling history.
Rodney Anoaʻi, performing under the imperial Japanese sumo title Yokozuna, was a force of nature in the World Wrestling Federation. Debuting in 1992, his sheer size and power were immediately terrifying, but he was also surprisingly agile for a man of his stature. Managed by the scheming Mr. Fuji, Yokozuna’s character was built on unstoppable dominance, using his devastating Banzai Drop finisher to crush opponents. His rise was meteoric; he won the 1993 Royal Rumble and then defeated Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX to claim the WWF Championship, though he lost it moments later in an infamous impromptu match. He reclaimed the title decisively from Hulk Hogan, cementing his place as the top villain. His feuds with the era's biggest stars, from Hart to The Undertaker to Lex Luger, defined the 'New Generation' era. Behind the menacing persona, Anoaʻi was a beloved figure among his peers, known for his gentle nature. His career and life were tragically cut short in 2000, but his two-year reign of terror remains a vivid chapter in wrestling lore.

The latchkey kids. Raised during divorce, recession, and the end of the Cold War. Skeptical, self-reliant, media-literate. They invented indie culture, grunge, and the early internet — then watched the Boomers take credit.
Yokozuna was born in 1966, placing them squarely in the Generation X. The events that shaped this generation — economic uncertainty, the end of the Cold War, and the rise of personal computing — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
