A formidable and outspoken Australian rules ruckman who used his physical presence and intellect to dominate the center square.
Will Minson carved out a 12-year career in the AFL as a quintessential, old-school ruckman for the Western Bulldogs. Standing well over two meters tall, he was a formidable presence in the center bounce, using his strength and timing to give his midfielders first use of the ball. Drafted in 2003, he developed into a reliable and combative figure, earning a reputation for his aggressive style and his willingness to engage in the physical contests that define the game. Off the field, Minson was known for his sharp mind and articulate nature, pursuing studies in engineering. His career, which included a single All-Australian squad nomination, represents the vital yet often unglamorous role of the ruckman, a pillar upon which team strategy is built.
