A flamboyant and acrobatic Italian goalkeeper whose record-setting unbeaten streak became a defining feat of the 1990 World Cup.
Walter Zenga redefined the art of goalkeeping for Italy with his explosive athleticism and commanding presence. Nicknamed 'Uomo Ragno' (Spider-Man) for his elastic saves, he spent the prime of his club career with Inter Milan, winning a Serie A title and a UEFA Cup. His international zenith came at the 1990 World Cup on home soil, where he captained the Azzurri and set a tournament record by not conceding a goal for 517 consecutive minutes, a streak that propelled Italy to a third-place finish. After retiring, Zenga embarked on a globetrotting managerial career, leading clubs from Serbia to the Middle East and back to Italy, always with the intense passion that marked his playing days.

Walter was born in 1960, placing them squarely in the Baby Boomers. The events that shaped this generation — postwar prosperity, civil rights, Vietnam, and the counterculture — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
