A promising Spanish cyclist whose life and career were tragically cut short during a training ride.
Víctor Cabedo's story is one of potential unfulfilled, a poignant reminder of the fragility that shadows the life of a professional athlete. Hailing from Onda, Castellón, he rose through the ranks of Spanish cycling, turning professional with the prestigious Basque team Euskaltel-Euskadi in 2012. His season showed flashes of the climbing talent that had marked his amateur days. Then, in September of that same year, while training near his home, he was struck by a vehicle. The collision proved fatal. His death at 23 sent shockwaves through the peloton and his home region, where he was seen as a rising star. In his memory, a junior cycling race, the Memorial Víctor Cabedo, was established, ensuring his name continues to inspire young riders on the roads he loved.
