A Slovak slalom specialist whose technical precision and longevity made her the standard-bearer for her nation's alpine skiing before the rise of Petra Vlhová.
For over a decade, Veronika Velez-Zuzulová was the face of Slovak alpine skiing. Hailing from Bratislava and coached by her father, she dedicated herself to the razor's-edge discipline of slalom, where her explosive turns and consistency defined her career. While a World Cup victory eluded her, she stood on the podium six times and frequently finished in the top ten, a remarkable feat for an athlete from a country with limited skiing infrastructure. She competed in four Olympic Games, from Turin in 2006 to PyeongChang in 2018, serving as a flagbearer and a symbol of resilience. Her career bridged eras, paving the way for the next generation. After retiring, she transitioned into coaching, passing on the technical wisdom honed over hundreds of World Cup runs.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Veronika was born in 1984, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
