Tymerlan Huseynov's career is a portrait of a footballer shaped by seismic political change. Coming of age in the Soviet system, he honed his skills with Dynamo Kyiv's youth setup before the USSR dissolved. He became a cornerstone for the newly independent Ukrainian national team, earning his first cap in 1992.
