A drag queen who fused barbed-wire comedy with earnest folk music to build a pink-laced empire, becoming one of the world's most recognizable and entrepreneurial drag artists.
Trixie Mattel is a study in brilliant contradiction. Born Brian Firkus in rural Wisconsin, she crafted a drag persona that is part plastic fantastic beauty queen, part sharp-tinted comic. After an early exit on 'RuPaul's Drag Race,' she leveraged the platform with sheer hustle, returning to win 'All Stars' and co-creating the wildly popular web series 'UNHhhh' with fellow queen Katya. But her true surprise was her music. Trading sequins for an autoharp, she released albums of sincere folk and country that showcased genuine songwriting chops, proving her artistry extended far beyond the runway. Trixie built a brand that encompasses a cosmetics line, a production company, and even a motel, embodying a new model of drag success—one where the character is a launchpad for multifaceted, unabashedly entrepreneurial creativity.

The first digital natives. Grew up with the internet, came of age during 9/11 and the 2008 crash. Highly educated, deeply indebted, slower to marry and buy houses. Redefined work, identity, and what it means to be an adult.
Trixie was born in 1989, placing them squarely in the Millennials. The events that shaped this generation — the internet revolution, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis — shaped the world they entered and the choices available to them.
